How to Get a Quick Nuke on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (mw 2)
81--Guide to Getting a Nuke in COD MW2--
The following is a simple guide to getting an easy nuke in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I have recenty reached my 10 nuke milestone and must say, I'm very happy to finally be able to retire that killstreak. Even though they are awesome to call in, I feel the game is alot more exciting when you're using 5, 7, and 11 killstreaks(opposed to 7, 11, 25 etc) I will go over everything from the different class layouts you will need, to the best maps, best game types, and best kill-streak rewards to use.
Remember, even though I said it up there, getting a nuke on cod mw2 is never really going to be easy, try not to get too caught up in the process of trying to get your first nuke and just have fun with the game. The nukes will come with experience. And, the feeling after calling in your first one is something special, along with the rest of the call of duty mw2 multiplayer experience.
--Classes--
I will go over 3 different classes that have proven useful, not only for me, but for many others. A SNIPER class, a HEAVY GUNNER class, and an ASSAULT RIFLE class.
--Sniper--
The sniper class that I use is in fact very different then most of the sniper classes you will find running around out there. If you don't enjoy or have never tried sniping, you must first get used to it by using maybe an intervention with stopping power. Good Sniping skills come with practice, no matter how frustrating it can be. And the Gillie in the Mist challenges are crucial for all Snipers to complete, doing so will provide you with extra camouflage while sniping.
Name: Sniper
Primary: WA2000 Sniper Rifle ; Thermal Scope Attached(I find that since the WA2000 is nowhere near as loud as the Intervention or Barret .50 cal, Enemies tend to not pay as much attention to you when they hear the shots go off)
Secondary: PP2000 Machine Pistol: Silencer or Extended Mags attached
Equipment: Claymore Special Grenade: Smoke Grenade
Perk 1: Scavenger Pro
Perk 2: Cold Blooded Pro
Perk 3: Steady Aim Pro
Death-Streak: Final Stand
I use Cold-Blooded, which is very rare over stopping power these days. However, the WA2000 has great damage when it is unsuppressed, so any shot to the chest or above is going to take down an enemy. And if you happen to hit them in the arm, you have five additional shots to unload for the kill.
This Class is very useful on maps like Wasteland and Underpass, where 85% of the snipers use stopping power and rely fully on a thermal scope. They'll have a harder time spotting you, while glowing white hot in your scope.Be patient, and blow their head of when the time is right.
A MOBILE SNIPER IS A LIVING SNIPER, you should kill no more than 2 - 3 people from any given spot before moving. Especially when playing any kind of team-deathmatch.
--Heavy Gunner--
I use this class on Maps in which you need not only be prepared for long range altercations, but some up close and personal Close-Quarter Combat(i.e. Invasion and Rundown).
Name: Heavy Weapons
Primary: AUG HBAR; Grip Attached
Secondary: AA-12 extended mags
Equipment: Claymore or Semtex Special Grenade: Stun Grenade
Perk 1: Scavenger Pro (The extra rounds are crucial in your hunt for a nuke)
Perk 2: Cold Blooded or Stopping Power (I'm personally a Cold Blooded Junkie, it's very important to keep your killstreaks going, and I find that the AUGs power is sufficient enough without stopping power)
Perk 3: Steady Aim or Commando(Steady Aim really tightens up the cross hairs when shooting the AA-12[can stop those light weight bastards in their tracks])
Death Streak: Final Stand (In my opinion, best deathstreak on game once unlocked)
--Assault Rifle--
Name: Duke Nukem
Primary: M4 Assault Rifle; Silencer Attached (Could also use ACR but I have grown to like M4 better)
Secondary: AA-12; Extended Mags Attached
Equipment: Claymore
Special Grenade: Flash Grenades
Perk 1: Slight of Hand Pro
Perk 2: Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3: Commando Pro
Death Streak: Final Stand
This Class covers basically all maps that aren't predominately sniper territory. The M4's power and range prove devastating when equipped with stopping power. The silencer will allow you to often times get out a few extra shots if you miss with you furst flurry, as enemies won't know where the shots are coming from. Equip slight of hand as your first perk to keep the bullets coming at them, along with stopping power and commmando. Commando can prove critical when turning a corner only to be face to face with an enemy.
--Best Kill-Streak Rewards--
I'm sure you have heard this time and time before but It's worth repeating because, in many situations, it is very true(albeit, somewhat common sense).
"The hardest part about getting a nuke is getting to that first kill-streak"
There are many different combinations that you can use as your first two kill-streak rewards when attempting to get tactical nuke in call of duty. But I have found that the best starting kill-streak is the harrier strike(Seven kills without a death). By using this, instead of say the helicopter kill-streak, you get not only a hovering plane that takes out enemies, but you get that initial air-strike as well. So, even if someone is ready and waiting with a stinger missile you at least get that uncontested airdrop and chance to kill some enemies. While, the helicopter can be shot out of the air within 15 seconds of calling it in.
For Kill-Streak number two, it is obviously a choice between either the AC-130 or the Chopper Gunner. If your a first time nuke seeker, definitely go with the chopper gunner. It takes no where near the skill and precision needed to get 14 kills that the AC 130 requires. With the chopper gunner you just hold fire and point at all the red squares you see running around. Only downside to a Chopper Gunner is that it can be shot down much easier than an AC 130, but it makes up for that in the fact that it lasts longer and its damage is extemely devistating.
So lets Review, Best Kill-streaks when seeking your First Nuke in cod mw2:
#1) Harrier Strike- Call in an airstrike with a hovering harrier
#2)Chopper Gunner- Be the gunner of an attack helicopter
#3)Tactical Nuke- End the Game with a bang
Which kill-streak reward do you like better?
See results without voting--Best 3 Maps to Get a Tactical Nuke--
Although it is possible to get a nuke on every map in the game, with maybe the exception of Rust, there are no doubt places that get nuked way more often then other. I have personally gotten a nuke on terminal with my heavy weapons class, and on Favela with my Duke Nukem class, so I know they are pretty much possible anywhere.
Wasteland - This is the map I would consider the easiest to get a nuke. It is very open with tons of cover. The open factor comes into play if you are able to reach your Chopper Gunner kill-streak. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. As long as you don't get shot down, a nuke is almost gaurunteed.
Afghan - I would also consider this map to be very nuke-able. With the exception of the middle cavern, There are very little places to hide if a Chopper Gunner is lighting up everything in sight.
Rundown - Last in my list of nuke-able places is Rundown. While there are plenty of small shacks and things to hide in if need be, The Chopper Gunner will tear through almost all cover in this map. And if you kill a few here, they all tend to spawn out in the open, in a big group. A Chopper Gunner can eat an enemy team alive on this map.
--Best Game Types to Get a Tactical Nuke--
It should come to no ones surprise that nukes are dropped 10 times more often on game modes that aren't focused around eliminating the other team, but some alternate objective. If you are desperately craving a nuke on call of duty modern warfare 2, you should definitely take advantage of this.
Ground War- This is by far the easiest game mode to get a nuke one. It plays one of two games, team-deathmatch or domination. The only difference is that the team sizes are larger than on the regular games of the same name. So in theory, the more people on a team, the more people to kill, the easier to get a nuke. Also, I've seen someone get 95 kills on domination in groundwar, so you basically have a chance to get a nuke throughout the entire game. As opposed to team deathmatch, where after your around halfway through, the score wouldn't allow you to get a nuke even if you went on a run.
Domination- This is a good game to play when trying to get a nuke and you just don't like all the commotion going on in ground war. It is strictly domination, which means three flags in the level, whoever holds the majority of the flags for the longest amount of time wins. No kill or death limit, which means you can get a nuke at almost anytime, from start to finish if you play your cards right. This is also a great game type for the more defensive player, which is what you need to be if you want to get your first nuke.
--Good Places to Defend(or Camp)--
Now, I don't condone camping in any way, but if you are playing in a domination or capture the flag type game mode, defenders are very necessary in order to win. And we all like to win. Being a defender is a great way to get your first nuke in call of duty.
Wasteland: When playing domination in wasteland, there are two houses behind the 'B' flag that will provide you with good cover and great sniping lanes. Actually, the long house located about 50 yards to the right of the flag(when facing the cave) is the perfect spot. From this house, with a thermal scope, your can watch the right and left edges of thick brush. Picking off anyone who tries to sneak around and flank your team.
Use the very right window in the house to watch the right line of thick brush, you have a clear view of anyone who comes around because you can see from the edge of the brush to the back edge of the map. This is the place to watch when your team is controlling the 'A' and 'B' flags and the enemy is respawning at 'C'.
** Almost everyone now uses thermal scopes when sniping on wasteland, so if your not cold blooded, you will stick out like a sore thumb when looking through that window.
Lay down just behind the door to cover the left edge of thick brush. This side is not as easy to defend because the enemy can manage to sneak around below the hill and your going to have to make a lot longer shots. But a good thing about using the above sniper class is that thermal scopes don't work on you, making it a lot harder for thermal snipers to spot you, especially from that far away. You will often be able to see their heads poking out of the brush and they will usually be still enough to get a clean head shot.
Rundown: In rundown, I like to use my heavy weapons class. The AUG has the same distance as a sniper rifle and the accuracy is amazing. When playing domination, it is obviously an advantage to start on the 'A'. When starting on this side, I like to go straight to the long building, placing a claymore to the right of the stairs, behind the small wall. I always stay to the right of the stairs, I find when i go to the left shots are much harder to make with all of the snipers watching this side. From this position, you can defend 'A' when you hear it being taken, and also 'B'. Keep an eye on the window in the building to the left of 'B' and also the tall grass on the very far end of the map straight behind 'B'.If you see a sniper in that grass, don't be afraid to let loose on them, just tap the trigger instead of holding it for a little bit better accuracy.
You should be able to rack up a good bit of kills here but be very careful of people coming into the building to kill you, or people shooting grenades in there. I like to stay kind of far back in the room when watching the 'B' flag(in the back hallway, not right up on the window). That way, if someone runs in they won't immediately be able to kill you from the side, and the claymore may get them. Good news is, if you get the chopper gunner or AC-130, you can really give 'em hell.

Thanks, for the information. I bet it will really help. Most of my friends already have a couple of nukes while i have none. I'm first prestige level 28 and i loved the AUG HBAR the first time around, but i used it with an acog scope and grip. One of my friends has ten nukes and hes still getting more. I'm also a big Barret .50 Cal fan. Its my favorite gun in the game, secong AUG HBAR. I hope i get my first nuke with this stratagy! If you want you can add me. My username is ontop.
great guide
I have a ps3 but i only have COD MW2 for my XBox 360. make sure XxKillerNoodlxX without an "e" in Noodl. Im level 35 and got my Aug HBAR. Just tell me ur username so ill know to accept you!
Ow well. Once i get Acog vision for my AUG HBAR with grip i will wreck. I will be okay and will do fine!
Does steady aim even work that much or should i use ninja so i do not get spotted.
Tell me if this class is okay.
AUG HBAR w/acog vision and grip
semtex
stun
bling pro
stopping power or cold blooded- (my first time around i only used cold blooded but stopping power with the AUG HBAR kills them so fast- leaning towards stopping power)
ninja
martydom
I also have a sniper class that im good with.
Should i use cold-blooded or stopping power?
What place are you talking about in Rundown.
Do you know any spots where there sort of secret.
Interesting read, this may be quiet an only hub now (with 10 new maps being released) but still the core essentials and facts are here. I agree with you on wasteland, easy to tear up a team if they dont shoot you dont. All maps have possibilities of nukes, on a newish map, Overgrown, I have got a perfect place to defend (Camp) and works like a charm for nukes if you know the right techniques.
Good guide though. Well thought out
Oh and a reply to a recent post

I'm a huge fan of cold blooded. The AUG is pretty powerful without stopping power. I would definitely say coldblooded if seeking a nuke. A predator missile can easily ruin your kill streak.
I got a nuke one time, playing Ground War Domination in Terminal by camping behind the desk watching the hallway you must come through when exiting the airplane(right beside the "A" flag, I believe). I was using the Heavy Gunner Class listed above with cold blooded and a claymore at my rear. People kept coming out of the plane trying to kill me, and they would hurt me, but that AUG had too much power, even with cold blooded, I was able to kill them first. Killed seven, then I believe harrier and chopper gunner got the rest. Since then, I've always used my AUG with cold blooded.

Great advice, I did this but a bit different, claymore behind and infront (People love to storm down to alley ahead of the desk) and grenade lauching down the hall worked amazing with one man army. It was actually my first nuke and seems to work well for others, definately one to remember but I have gotten close many time on terminal with several stratergies and its wise to remember that just because something may work once doesnt mean it will work again =)
Wouldn't stun/flash grenade be better than smoke? And Final stand on all classes.
Wow! This was done very well. I made my own Hub on this topic, though I must admit it is not nearly as complete as this one.... but it does have some pretty interesting tips nonetheless. ;)
My personal favorite class set up is:
Intervention w/ extended mags
SPAS-12
Claymore
Flash Grenade
Sleight of Hand Pro (w/ faster Aim Down Sights)
Stopping Power Pro (just to make sure)
Steady Aim Pro (to hold breath longer and help no-scopes)
However, I sometimes use Thermal and Cold-Blooded
I use a ACR silenced stopping power pro, scavenger pro, and cammando pro iv gotten 1 nuke so far and im level 56 I also agree that as long as you have on the grip on the styer AUG( or AUG HBAR) is a very good gun. What is your gamer tag? mine is Mash3dpotato3s7. Very good hub by the way.
really great hub, literally everything you would need explained, you at the least touched on. I couldn't agree with your more on the cold blooded pro over stopping power pro perk on some classes. Definitely helps me out a lot.
I love call of duty nice hub

And BLIBBLOB, you're a noob for not knowing how to spell noob. Gotta go with the mortal combat style. LOL
I was on a 23 killstreak about to get my first nuke when out of nowhere someone came in and quickscoped me. I was in a free for all in underpass using the UMP 45 rapid fire. I now play ground war to get nukes. Do you think the Scar H is good for getting a nuke?
I like the scar-H, its got good damage but the clip goes down while fast if you dont do burst fire
Im trying to get nuke but something always goes wrong, dont get me wrong ive got 10 nukes but after about 2 months not playing it ive come back and realised a number of things have changed.
For example:
Commando has been nerf'd like hell
everyone snipes
if i try to play defence i get bum rushed
claymores fail for me three in four times
Advice on how to get nuke now people, this hub is good but doesnt seem effective now ive started playing again

Great hub, i made one about a nuke but no where near as good as yours, you should maybe add a video from youtube, on someone getting a nuke by sniping.
